Have you ever looked up a word in the dictionary and 5 minutes later had to look it up again because you've forgotten it? This used to happen to me all the time. I thought I was never going to remember any vocabulary.
The only reason I couldn't remember the vocabulary is because looking up random words in the dictionary is not a good way to learn. It's true that to learn a language you need to memorise a lot of words. To memorise words and to be able to use them, you need to use a lot of different methods. And don't be discouraged: studies have shown that you need to meet a new word 5-16 times before you retain it.
